basquiat

Example This kind of drawing feels so intuitive to me. I think it's beautiful that he could make such interesting and lovely compositions with this sort of sloppy mind map. I find it sinscere, comforting, and real. for me this style addresses current issues with candor and energy which relieves my desire for something or someone to scream out.

Inauguration Mind Map

The Inauguration was so moving!! I am so thankful, that I got to be apart of it and see it. (on t.v) It was such a great time to share, with my friends and family.

Camilla's figurative and abstracted flowers

I used pencils to do my flowers for the first drawing, then used curled up paper, cut outs and watercolor to print my abstracted image on my copy machine. This printing technique is inspired by David Hockney and its very fun and very expensive to use all your ink in your cheap printer at home...

Great Work!

Great work guys!
Picassa
this is my mind map and i admit it is a little tongue in cheek. I'm exploring my tickish nature... I will post my pictures soon. By the way everyones work here is really beautiful!

Representational/Abstract

I chose graphite to draw a representational sketch of a glass of water. I tend to focus on the shapes the light makes when it passes through the glass rather than sketching the shape precisely. I tend to go abstract and comic-like when I use my micro pens (ink), and I was inspired by the shapes in my representational drawing. The shapes ended up looking like little pieces of wood.
Sorry they arent rotated...I'm off to work and will fix it later!

Mind Map

I started drawing out little squares to remember key moments when watching the Presidential Inauguration...

Representational vs. Abstract

Representational:

I chose graphite to do my representational piece because it is the medium with which I am most familiar, and therefore that witch which I could produce the most "believable" image.

Abstract:

For my abstract, I chose woodless colored pencils. I have not done too much abstract work in the recent past, so I was unsure about how to go about it (as you might tell from my marks). In the end, I decided to make it simple and remove my subject from any recognizable setting.

"Representation/Abstraction"

On the left is my Representation Image and on the right is my Abstract image.
I chose to replicate an image of A photograph that I had taken in Mexico. For the representational image, I lightly painted and chalked what I saw and in the Abstract image, I pulled the colors from the representational image and put them together in the forms and colors that followed in the photograph. The materials used in this project, were simply canvas, Gesso and for the colors, I used ink pen, chalk and water.
